1. Domain Name Registration

  • What is a domain name? - A domain name is the easy-to-read address of a website on the internet, like Google’s google.com. It helps people find websites without needing to remember complicated number addresses called IP addresses. You can purchase domains from registrars or — in some cases — obtain a free domain through government or registrar programs. Below are recommended registrars and the typical steps to claim a free domain in Nepal.

    Steps to claim a free domain in Nepal
    1. Goto Register Nepal Website.
    2. Create an account and log in to the registrar's dashboard.
    3. Search your domain name to check its availability. Try alternatives if your first choice is taken.
    4. After ensuring the domain is available, click on Register Now button.
    5. Fill out the registration form. - Primary name server : indie.ns.cloudflare.com - Secondary name server : jarred.ns.cloudflare.com - Full name ( पुरा नाम ) : Your Full Name - Country/Region ( देश ) : Choose Nepal from dropdown - Province/State ( प्रदेश ) : Select your province - City ( गाउँ / शहर ) : Enter your district - Address ( ठेगाना ) : Enter your Municipality/VDC, Ward number, and Street address - Email : Enter your email address. - Mobile: Enter your mobile number.
    6. On Technical contact section, tick the checkbox Copy administrative contact.
    7. Click on Save & Continue to proceed to the next step.
    8. From drop down, select document type as Citizenship and upload a scanned copy of your citizenship card.
    9. From drop down select cover letter and upload the photo of cover letter you prepared. - Note: Image size has to be less than 200KB and jpg format. - If your image is larger or in other formats, convert and resize image with this tool.

Sincerely, Your Full Name Signature Note: The domain registration process may take a few days to complete. You will receive a confirmation email once your domain is successfully registered. Follow up with the registrar if you do not receive confirmation within a week or if request is rejected.

2. Create the Site Repository

  • It pre-requite to have a your site's code hosted in a Git repository for seamless deployment to Cloudflare Pages. If you don't have a repository, refer to the guide on How to Create a Personal Website without Coding for detailed steps on creating a GitHub repository and generating your website's content using GitHub Copilot.

3. Deploying the Site to Cloudflare Pages

    Deploy the site to Cloudflare Pages.
    1. Sign up for a free Cloudflare account.
    2. On left hand pane, search for Pages and click on Workers & Pages.
    3. On right hand pane, click on Create application button.
    4. At end of new page, click on Get Started button.
    5. Select your Git provider and authorize Cloudflare to access your repositories. - OR upload your static files directly.
    6. Choose the repository you want to deploy and click Begin Setup at end.
    7. Fill up Project Name and Production Branch fields and click on Save and Deploy at end.
    8. Wait for the deployment process to complete. Once deployed, click on Continue to project.
    9. Click on Visit inside Deployment section to see your live site.

4. CDN and DNS Configuration

    Configure DNS settings.
    1. Goto Custom Domains section of your Cloudflare Pages project.
    2. Click on Set up a custom domain and enter your registered domain name.
    3. Click on Continue

    Configure Cloudflare CDN.
    1. Cloudflare automatically provides CDN services for your site. You can manage caching and performance settings from the Cloudflare dashboard.
    2. Enable features like Auto Minify, Brotli compression, and Rocket Loader to optimize your site's performance.
    3. Use Cloudflare's analytics to monitor traffic and performance metrics for your site.
